چکیده

OBJECTIVE To study the metabolism of 14C-deltamethrin in rats. METHODS Rats were dosed orally and i.p. with a single dose of 14C-deltamethrin (0.64 mg/Kg) body weight. The required dose was applied daily for 3 days. At the end of the experiment, selected organs, such as liver, kidney, fat, intestine, and blood were excised for radioassay of 14C-content. RESULTS Deltamethrin was almost eliminated from the body within 1-3 days. The main portion of 14C-residues was extracted from urine (38%, 32%) and feces (20%, 24%) with a little amount remained in various organs. CONCLUSION The elimination and distribution of 14C-radioactivity in rats treated orally and intraperitoneally signify that deltamethrin is bioavailable in urine and feces.

Protective Effect of Salvia officinalis Extract on Deltamethrin-induced Hepatotoxicity in Rats

Background and purpose: Deltamethrin is one of the major pesticides used in agriculture to control pests. Oxidative stress is one of the deltamethrin toxicity mechanisms. Different antioxidants have been investigated to deal with the oxidative damage of toxic substances. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the protective effect of Salvia officinalis extract against deltamethrin-induced he...

Species differences in the in vitro metabolism of deltamethrin and esfenvalerate: differential oxidative and hydrolytic metabolism by humans and rats.

Pyrethroids are neurotoxic pesticides whose pharmacokinetic behavior plays a role in their potency. This study examined the elimination of esfenvalerate and deltamethrin from rat and human liver microsomes. A parent depletion approach in the presence and absence of NADPH was used to assess species differences in biotransformation pathways, rates of elimination, and intrinsic hepatic clearance. ...

Tyrosine hydroxylase as a target for deltamethrin in the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathway.

OBJECTIVE To study the effects of deltamethrin on tyrosine hydroxylase in nigrostriatum of male rats. METHODS Sprague-Dawley rats were daily treated with deltamethrin at 6.25 or 12.5 mg/kg body weight by gavage for 10 days. Then HPLC-fluorescence detection was used to analyze the contents of dopamine (DA), 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) and homoranillic acid (HVA) in substantial nigra...

Assessement of Reproductive Toxicity Induced by Deltamethrin In Male Albino Rats

Introduction: Pyrethroids are important insecticides because of their high activity and low mammalian toxicity. Some studies have demonstrated that these insecticides, especially compounds with an -cyano group, produce toxic effects on various biological systems. Deltamethrin (DTM) is a Type II synthetic pyrethroid insecticide containing -cyano group and is used worldwide in agriculture, ho...

Identification of rat and human cytochrome p450 isoforms and a rat serum esterase that metabolize the pyrethroid insecticides deltamethrin and esfenvalerate.

The metabolism of (alphaS)-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl (1R, 3R)-cis-3-(2,2-dibromovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylate (deltamethrin) and (alphaS)-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-methylbutyrate (esfenvalerate) by rat and human liver microsomes differs with respect to the biotransformation pathway (oxidation versus hydrolysis) responsible for their clearance. This study aims to furth...
